Rolland Glenn Knapp, 89, of Union City, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Grand Vista Assisted Living in Coldwater, surrounded by his family, under the care of Oaklawn Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Union City with Rev. Fr. Baskar Lopez as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-8:00 PM on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City with the Rosary at 7:30 PM.
Rolland was born on December 4, 1930 in Coldwater, MI to Charles and Glee (Hart) Knapp. He attended Union City High School, graduating in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951-52 during the Korean War. On February 13, 1960 he married the former Delphine Nowicki at St. Mary’s Church in Bronson.
Rolland was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Union City. He was employed for 40 years by the Kellogg Company of Battle Creek, where he was a warehouse supervisor.
Rolland enjoyed playing and watching sports. He was a member of the 1948 Union City football team and the first team to be pictured on the wall of the undefeated.
Rolland was a member of the Bronson Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed reading, traveling, playing cards and spending time with friends and his family. Rolland’s kind nature and helpfulness will be missed.
Survivors include Rolland’s children, Kim (Cathy) Knapp of Sturgis and Kelly (Brian) AcMoody of Union City; grandchildren, Morgan (Jesse) Albright, Kelsey (Chris) Maye of Union City and Adam (Bailee) AcMoody of Union City, Tia Knapp of Sturgis, Tara Annis of Sturgis and Jack Annis of Sturgis; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; siblings Duane (Frances) Knapp of Arkansas and Leslie Knapp of Coldwater; and sisters-in-law, Louise Stobbe of Coldwater and Joan Butler of Angola, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Delphine (2012); and by his sisters, Frances Knapp and Ellen Brown.
