COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – St. Charles Borremeo Catholic School got another big boost to its budget Saturday, as the 21st Annual Mardi Gras Auction grossed over $85,000 for the school
According to principal Brandon Smith, almost 350 attended the event at the St. Charles Activities Buidling. The evening featured a silent auction, various raffles, and dinner, followed by the live auction.
Some of the top live auction items were Father’s Wallet, which went for $3,700. The wallet contained items from some of Fr. Dan Hyman’s favorite local places, gift cards, and over $1,000 cash. A seven night stay in Maui also brought in a large donation of $3,250.
Other favorites were a Grand River Brewery package that went for $1,500, as well as a week in Orlando, Florida that brought in $1,200.
Class projects brought in a large amount for auction. The third grade “Life is a Thrill Ride” whichhad tickets and gift cards to Kalahari and Great Wolf Lodge went for $1,050. The second grade’s theme of “Every Moment is a Blessing, Every Breath is a Gift, Every Sunrise is a New Day!” and the fourth grade’s “Let us Entertain You” each went for $1,150.
Many of the other class projects brought in a considerable amount to help raise money for the school.
The money raised supports the operation of the school on Harrison Street in Coldwater.
