COLDWATER TOWNSHIP, MI. – (WTVB) – A retirement auction will be held on Saturday afternoon as Bates Tractor and Equipment owner Charlie Bates has decided to retire after running the business for 43 years.
There will be two auction rings set up for the complete dealer closeout and the selling of tractors, skid loaders, farm equipment and trucks will start at 1:00 p.m..
The Brian Hasty Auction Company of Tekonsha will be handling the auction at the business located at 463 East Fenn Road.
Bates along with his wife Ellen opened Bates Tractor and Equipment in Coldwater in 1977. Together they operated their family business for 42 years until her death last year.
The Bates were longtime 4-H and Branch County Fair supporters. They served as the Grand Marshals of the Branch County Fair Parade in 2017.
