Toni Marie (Kimbel) Guthrie, 56, of Coldwater, formerly of Union City, died Friday, February 7, 2020 at The Laurels of Coldwater.
A celebration of Toni’s life will be held at 12 Noon Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Visitation will be held just prior to the funeral, from 10:00 AM-12:00 Noon Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Lighthouse.
Toni was born on November 18, 1963 in Coldwater, MI to Foster and Christine (Byers) Kimbel. She grew up in Union City, where she was raised by her father and step-mother, Gloria Kimbel.
After graduating from Union City High School with the Class of 1982, Toni served briefly in the U.S. Army. Returning home, she married Rick Shilling, but their union ended in divorce. She was later married to Bobby Guthrie for 18 years, but that union also ended in divorce.
Toni spent the majority of her life in the Union City area, except for a few years in Homer and a short time living in the state of Washington. She was a hard worker who employed in quality control for Crotty Corporation in Quincy for a number of years until she became disabled in 2005 through diabetes.
When not working, Toni was an avid reader of Harlequin Romance books. She enjoyed putting together puzzles and watching game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune. Always fun-loving, she enjoyed camping with her family at Huyck Lake in her youth and doing things with her sisters.
Family was very important to Toni and made her happy. She was very loving toward her family and also cherished her cats. She was especially proud of her son, Andrew, and deeply appreciated his loving care.
Survivors include Toni’s son, Andrew Guthrie of Coldwater; her parents, Foster and Gloria Kimbel of Union City; her siblings, Tamara (David) Fisher of Union City, Jennifer Kositzke of Springfield, TN, Jeffrey (Theresa) Kimbel of Bryan, OH and Lynette (Andy) Burgett of Sherwood; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her birth mother and a sister, Crystal Ashley.
