COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School gymnastics team had a historic day Saturday in their 10th Annual Stick It For a Cure Cardinal Invitational as they raised over $20,000 in the fight against cancer and set a new team record by scoring 136.925 points.
With Saturday’s total, the event has now raised over $100,000 in the last decade.
The money raised will go to the ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital Cancer Center. The tally from the silent auction brought in over $8,000, the highest total from any of their previous events.
Coldwater finished in fifth place with their record setting total. The Jackson Area Gymnastics cooperative team claimed first place with their total of 142.825 points.
Coldwater’s Leah Goodwin and Randi Dudek tied for fourth in the vault with scores of 8.9.
Abby Travelbee was fifth on the uneven bars with a score of 8.825. She was also fifth on the balance beam with her personal best score of 9.075 points while Goodwin was sixth.
Layla Schoch put together her best performance of the year with a score of 9.125 points in floor exercise which earned her a fifth place finish. Travelbee tied for seventh and Goodwin tied for tenth.
Travelbee put together her personal best All-Around mark of 35.4 points for a fifth place finish. Goodwin tallied her best score of the season with 34.75 points as she finished seventh. Schoch was eighth with a total of 33.15 points while Dudek was ninth with her personal best tally of 32.925 points.
The Coldwater gymnasts will host Monroe in a league meet on Wednesday starting at 6:00 p.m..
