Elwin J. Van Hoosear, 88, of Algansee, passed away Thursday,
February 6, 2020 at home.
Funeral services for Elwin J. Van Hoosear will be held Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 11 A.M. at the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy with Reverend Bradley Belcher officiating. Interment will follow, with Military Honor’s, at Fisher Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday, February 10, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. and again Tuesday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
He was born
October 10, 1931 in Algansee to Marion and Lucene (Batterson) Van Hoosear. On
June 17, 1956 he married Evelyn (Walter) and she survives. Elwin attended
Quincy Community Schools where he graduated as the Valedictorian, class of
1949. He went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force during the
Korean Conflict.
Elwin was a member of the Farm Bureau for many years. He was
active in churches his whole life where he had the opportunity to design and
help build East Algansee Baptist Church. Elwin was a very patriotic man and
would root for the Air Force no matter who they played.
Surviving besides his wife, Evelyn are two daughters, Eileen
(Gordon) Stroble of Quincy and Susan (Rick) Koster of Byron Center; two sons,
Gene (Sheri) Van Hoosear of Maumee, OH and Paul (Kelly) Van Hoosear of Reading;
exchange student, Myriam Yanez of Antofagasta, Chile; 11 grandchildren and 20
great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, James
Van Hoosear and one sister, Velma Estlow.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Camp Selah,
Promedica Coldwater Hospice or Southern Hills Youth for Christ.
