COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – This tranquil winter is starting to show some teeth.
For the second time in a week, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Branch, Calhoun, St. Joseph, Hillsdale and Steuben Counties which will be in effect from 5:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon to 1:00 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
This latest storm is expected to dump three to five inches of snow in portions of northern Indiana, southwest Michigan, and northwest Ohio.
Hazardous driving conditions are expected for both the Wednesday evening and Thursday morning commutes.
Forecasters say the snow will rapidly move in late Wednesday afternoon and persist into Wednesday night with the greatest accumulation potential on Wednesday evening.
An arctic surge of cold air will follow the snow which will cause any standing water or snow packed roads to refreeze on Friday.
Low temperatures on Thursday night will drop into the single digits with highs on Friday only in the upper teens.
Keep in mind, the first day of spring is still 38 days away.
