COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – Two Branch County Commissioners have officially filed to get on the ballot for the Republican Primary on August 4th, 2020.
Second district Commissioner Leonard Kolcz and Fifth District Commissioner Randall Hazelbaker have both filed at the Branch County Clerks Office.
The second district covers the City of Bronson as well as Batavia, Bethel, Bronson, Gilead, Matteson and Noble Townships.
The fifth district covers the City of Coldwater’s fourth ward as well as Coldwater Township, a portion of Quincy Township and the Village of Quincy.
A second candidate for the Fourth District seat on the Branch County Board of Commissioners has officially filed for the August 4, 2020 Primary.
Former Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy Greg Ware joins former County Commissioner Jon Houtz on the ballot for the seat which encompasses Wards One, Two, and Three in the City of Coldwater.
Houtz lost in the 2016 G.O.P. Primary to former Sheriff and current County Commission Chair Ted Gordon.
Meanwhile, Johnny Lopez is running in the Republican Primary against Sheriff John Pollack. Pollack defeated Lopez for Sheriff in 2012 when Lopez ran as a Democrat.
The filing deadline to get on the August Primary ballot is April 21, 2020.
