COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A recently retired long time school board trustee was honored Monday night at a tribute dinner hosted by the Coldwater Board of Education.
Jean Milnes, who served on the school board in Coldwater from 2008 to 2019, submitted her notice of resignation December 16. In the letter, Milnes cited the poor health of her husband and her own health issues as the primary reasons for stepping down.
She told the dinner gathering Monday that it had been an honor to serve on the Board, adding she misses being involved with education. Milnes said she appreciated the support of voters in choosing to elect her and their continued support to the school system.
Milnes also served on the Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education for 12 years as well as an additional 5 years on the Coldwater school board in the 1990’s.
The Board of Education appointed Kate Frederick to replace Milnes effective February 1, 2020.
