COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Community Foundation has announced they have two new members on their Board of Directors, including one youth member.
Coldwater High School senior Kyle Germann will serve on the board as a director and a YAC representative.
Germann works for the Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. Following graduation, he will be attending the Fisher College of Business at The Ohio State University.
His participation at Coldwater High School includes being the Treasurer of Interact, a member of the National Honors Society, a participant of the Youth in Government, and a member of Coldwater’s football and track programs.
Academically, he holds a 4.278 grade point and is recognized as an AP Scholar.
The second new board member is longtime local educator Mike Hoffner.
Hoffner is originally from Bessemer, Michigan. His 40-year professional career revolved around working for and with all the schools in Branch County. After starting his career as a teacher for Quincy Community Schools, Hoffner worked for the next 38 years for the Branch Area Careers Center serving in various positions such as a Placement Coordinator, Curriculum Administrator, Principal, and Director of Career and Technical Education.
Hoffner has served on several state-wide educational committees in Lansing. At the local level he was a member and past chair of the United Way. He was also a member and past chair of the Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce and currently serves on their awards committee.
Hoffner started the Branch Area Careers Center Scholarship program which currently awards sixteen $500 scholarships through the Branch County Community Foundation.
