BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – Kellogg Community College has joined the MiTransfer Pathways initiative, partnering with 25 Michigan universities on a program that promises to make it easier for community college students to transfer credits into a bachelor’s degree program.
The program allows students majoring in biology, business, criminal justice and psychology to complete their associates degree at KCC and enroll as a junior at one of the participating four-year schools without losing any credits.
Transferring credits from community colleges to four-year colleges or universities has been a point of emphasis across Michigan universities in recent years.
A similar statewide initiative called the Michigan Transfer Agreement was created in 2014. That program was designed to transfer general education credits, but not credits accumulated in specific majors. That’s the purpose of the new pathways program.
The schools taking part of the program include Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, and University of Michigan.
