PENNFIELD, MI. – (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal J.V. Bowling Teams took part in the West Side Junior Varsity State Tournament over the weekend at M-66 lanes in Pennfield.
In the singles portion of the tournament on Saturday, Coldwater’s Dezarae Kling qualified third, Annabelle Kling qualifying sixth and Kaydenn Sunday finishing 22nd.
In match play both of the Coldwater bowlers made it through the first round only to have to face each other in the second round, with Kling coming out on top and eventually finishing fourth in the tournament.
Four Coldwater bowlers made the cut for match play in the Boys division. Coldwater had Alex Rogers and Cameron Shuler finish in the top 18. In the second round, Coldwater’s last two bowlers Chance Cook and Andon Parshall had to face each other with Cook narrowly defeating Parshall. Parshall finished in the top eight. Cook lost his next round to send him to the consolation round where he defeated a Parma Western bowler to take third place in the tournament.
On Sunday both teams competed in the Team portion of the tournament. With Coldwater only having three J.V. girls, they joined forces with two bowlers from Marshall to field a team. The girls made it to the Championship round where they lost to Pennfield to secure 2nd place in the tournament. Coldwater finished sixth In the boys division.
