Elizabeth Jane “Bette” Densmore, 75, of Sherwood Township, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2020 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, with a visitation held from 4:00-6:00 PM on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City, MI.
Bette was born on February 13, 1945, in Battle Creek, MI. She lived in Union City for several years. On May 9, 1964, she married Orvil Densmore, Sr., who survives.
Bette drove school bus for over 30 years. She started in Harper Creek, then drove for Union City schools until her retirement. Everyone knew “Grandma Bette, the Bus Driver.” She was known by many in the community, and touched countless lives. Her ability to strike up a conversation with literally anyone was unmatched. If she didn't immediately brighten your day, she could at least undeniably make it interesting.
She loved her plants, her fish pond, the casino, puzzle books, card games, her animals, and collecting anything to do with chickens. She loved holidays, especially Halloween. Every holiday, she'd make sure the house was decorated. She loved family get-togethers, and making sure she cooked an unnecessary amount of food. That was one of her many ways of endless giving.
Bette thoroughly enjoyed going to yard sales, and buying things to store in the basement and immediately forget about. She loved to keep the whole house awake with her truly impressive roar of a snore. She also loved to laugh. Whether it was at her expense or not, or a ridiculously inappropriate joke, there was always joy in a good laugh. She loved to tell stories, and she has left an endless amount of great stories to tell.
Above all else, Bette loved her family. She leaves with them a basement full of yard sale acquisitions, and most importantly, an immeasurable amount of love.
Bette is survived by her husband of 55 years; her children, Orvil (Sharese) Densmore, Jr., Don (Vicky) Densmore and Jeannie (Kevin Clark) Densmore; her grandchildren, Justyn (Kristina) Densmore, Kristyn (Kevin) Smith, Alyce (Blake) Sorensen, Tyler Densmore, Wyatt (Christina Profit) Densmore, Dyllan Steele and Jonathon Steele; her great grandchildren; Kaydence, Samuel, and Morgan; and her brothers, George Dahn and Gerry Dahn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace John Hadley and Eloise Agnes (Love) Hadley; her step-father, Olin Dahn; her infant daughter, Sally Ann; and a brother, John Hadley.
