COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A representative from the Michigan Association of Retailers presented a program to members of the Coldwater Area Chamber of Commerce Tuesday morning entitled “Jumpstarting Your Downtown”.
Meegan Holland talked about how the Old Town section of Lansing went from an area that was down and out in 1997 to a thriving business location in just two decades.
Holland said she liked what she saw in downtown Coldwater after driving through it, but said it sounds like the downtown could use more retail businesses.
She added her program is targeted to downtowns that are not as advanced as Coldwater and that some cities are more interested in filling up their industrial park.
Those who attended the Chamber’s “Business for Breakfast” at JT’s Billard Bar and Grill were told by Holland during her power point presentation about the best practices for business owners and the five personalities needed to jumpstart a downtown.
Her presentation was also designed to help downtown groups figure out ways to create and maintain a diverse mix of retail businesses
The meeting was sponsored by the City of Coldwater’s Downtown Development Association.
