Douglas James Nelson, 61, of Coldwater passed away Friday,
February 21, 2020 at his home.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, February 27, 2020
at 12:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. Interment will take place in
Oak Grove Cemetery following services. Visitation will be held Thursday prior
to the service from 11:00-12:00 PM at the funeral home.
Douglas was born August 24, 1958 in Milwaukee, WI to James
and Barbara (Schreihart) Nelson. He proudly served his country in the United
States Navy and then worked at Guardian Fiber Glass until his retirement. Doug was also a golf course manager, a member
of the Coldwater American Legion Post 52, and a talented tinkerer and
woodworker; he could fix anything for anyone. He enjoyed working on CB radios,
adored his grandchildren, and was known for always lending a helping hand and
his giving heart.
Survivors include, his mother, Barbara Erdmann of
Zephyrhills, FL; his life partner of 18 years, Patricia Simmons of Coldwater;
children, Anthony (Jenna) Nelson of Yulee, FL; Andrea (Marcus Fisher) Nelson of
Quincy; step-children, Jason (Myisha Johnson) Mahaffey and Sara Woodcox both of
Coldwater; siblings, Deborah (Richard) Nelson-Gardell of Alabama; Dan
(Jennifer) Erdmann of Dade City, FL; Dorie (Kathy Ryan) Erdman of Florida;
grandchildren, Nora Nelson and Scarlett Nelson; step-grandchildren, Emmett
Woodcox, Ethan Woodcox, Alek Rakoske, Grace Lashaway, and many loving nieces
and nephews.
Doug was preceded in death by his father James Nelson and
his step-father Lee Erdmann.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
Arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in
Coldwater.
