BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls varsity basketball team’s late season struggles continued Tuesday night as they lost at Harper Creek 52-28.
The Cardinals struggled all night on the offensive end, making just 18 percent of their shots and going one of 20 from the 3-point line. Abby Herman led the Cardinals in scoring with six points while Brooklyn Kerry scored four points to go along with six rebounds and three blocked shots. Coldwater drops to 8-11 and hosts Lumen Christi on Friday while Harper improves to 17-2 and will play at Parma Western on Friday with the winner being crowned conference champion. Both teams are 12-1 in the conference.
The Quincy Orioles defeated Branch County rival Union City 50-27 Tuesday night in the Orioles final home game of the season.
Maddie Hinds led Quincy with 16 points, 12 rebounds and four steals. Katie Rathbun added 10 points, seven rebounds, five steals, five blocks and three assists, Elizabeth Schreur had nine points, 12 rebounds and five steals while Hannah Clark had nine points and five rebounds.
Quincy is now 8-5 in the Big 8 Conference and 12-6 overall. Union City drops to 0-12 in the Big 8 and 1-15 overall.
Bronson won at Jonesville 42-35 on Tuesday night in a preview of an opening round district game that will take place next Monday. Bronson used a 14-3 third quarter to take control of the game. The Vikings are now 11-7 overall and 8-5 in the Big 8 Conference.
