BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Area residents were reminded on Wednesday that just because there was bright sunshine this past weekend with temperatures near 50 degrees Sunday, Old Man Winter is not done just yet.
A winter storm that moved in Tuesday night hung around all day Wednesday and dropped nearly seven inches of snow on the Coldwater area.
There were a couple of eight inch snowfall reports in Steuben County.
All Branch County schools were forced to close on both Wednesday and Thursday.
Several churches called off Wednesday night services and activities.
The Branch County Central Dispatch log for Wednesday showed there were 15 slide offs along with five property damage accidents and a reported personal injury accident on East Nettleman Road.
There were so many wrecks on I-94 in Jackson County, the interstate near Cooper Road had to be shut down.
Temperatures are expected to be only in the 20s during the daytime and in the teens at night through Saturday.
The snowfall maybe gone by this time next week. Highs on Sunday are expected to be in the low 40s before warming up to near 50 on Monday and Tuesday. But forecasters are also calling for rain early next week.
