COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – Following a state funding allocation, the Branch I.S.D. Board of Education approved the creation of two Early Literacy Coaching positions for the next school year during their monthly meeting on Wednesday.
B.I.S.D. Superintendent Kris Jenkins says the state has allocated over $112,000 for each coach who will focus on kindergarten through third grade literacy.
In addition, four local school districts have agreed to a 25 percent match for each one to bring the total amount for each coach to $150,000 which would cover salary, benefits and other items.
The board approval allows the B.I.S.D. to post the positions.
The B.I.S.D. currently has one early literacy coach through a contract with the Calhoun I.S.D..
