COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An offer to buy property on Munson Street that is currently owned by the City of Coldwater is scheduled to come back before the Coldwater City Council Monday night.
City Manager Keith Baker says in his memo to the Council that the property at 25 Munson Street was purchased by the City from the State of Michigan for $8,600 through the state’s tax foreclosure program.
Ted and Amy Short, who own Short’s Root Beer Stand directly across the street, have made a $5,000 offer for the vacant residential structure.
The existing structure would be demolished and the property would be used for Short’s Root Beer Stand employee parking.
The resolution scheduled for adoption on Monday says the City intended to demolish the structure in 2020 as part of its effort to remove structures that it finds to be deteriorated beyond rehabilitation at a reasonable cost.
The Council placed the Shorts offer on the table for 30 days during their January 27th meeting but no other offers for the property were made.
