COLDWATER, MI. – (WTVB) – There is a vacancy on the Coldwater City Council after the resignation of second ward Council Member Chris Pierce was accepted with deep regret on Monday night.
Mayor Tom Kramer said Pierce was stepping down for personal reasons.
Pierce was a Council member in 1992 and 1993. He served on the Council again between 1997 and 2005. After a two year break, Pierce became a Council member again in 2007.
Kramer said anyone who would be interested in serving out the balance of Pierce’s term should give fellow Second Ward Council Member James Knaack an application.
Knaack would then review the applications and make a recommendation to the Council as to who should take over for Pierce.
Meanwhile, the Council approved Kramer’s appointment of Coldwater School Superintendent Terry Whelan to the Coldwater B.P.U. Board of Directors.
She will serve out the balance of Christine Zuzga’s term which expires in May of 2024. Zuzga stepped down from the Board after her family purchased a house in Marshall.
