COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While schools across the state are shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak, meals are still being provided to students.
Coldwater Community Schools are providing breakfast and lunch daily for families wishing to participate. The bagged meals can be picked up at Jefferson Elementary and Legg Middle School between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday at no cost.
Families can drive up to the curb and the food will be handed to you.
You’re asked to use the Western Avenue parent parking lot for Legg Middle School and the Vans Avenue parent loop at Jefferson Elementary. Chartwells Food Service reports 233 meals were served on Monday.
Students are not sitting idly by during this time off.
Coldwater High School Principal Bill Milnes says teachers created online and hard copies of learning last week in preparation for a possible shut down and they were handed out to students last Friday.
Since many students may have been absent last Friday, the front doors at Coldwater High School will be open Tuesday and Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. to allow students to get anything they might need from their lockers or pick up learning packets.
Staff is asking that individuals come to the school rather than groups of students or families.
