COLDWATER, MI – (WTVB) – The Michigan High School Gymnastics Coaches and Judges Association has given All-State Honors to four members of the Coldwater High School gymnastics team after the COVID-19 outbreak forced a cancellation of the MHSAA Gymnastics Finals last weekend.
Randi Dudek and Leah Goodwin are named to the All-State team for the vault. Layla Schoch was given All-State honors for the floor exercise while Abby Travelbee was named All-State for the uneven bars.
The association awards the honor each year after the results from the State Finals competition. Due to this year’s cancellation, the association board of directors decided to name the top five individuals on each event from each Region for the All-State designation.
At the Regional competition, Schoch was the top scorer on the floor exercise for the Cardinals, earning a fifth place finish with her mark of 9.05.
Goodwin earned a personal best score for vault, scoring 9.425 points and second place overall.
Dudek also posted a personal best mark, collecting 8.925 points and finishing in a tie for fifth place for her efforts.
Travelbee collected 8.55 points to finish in fifth place and earn All-Region honors on the unevens.
It’s the first time since Kim Nichols became the Cardinals gymnastics coach that there have been multiple all-staters from Coldwater.
