COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Officials with the Branch Area Food Pantry in Coldwater say that after “painful and agonizing deliberation”, they have decided to close the pantry for the time being for the safety of their volunteers.
The pantry last week adjusted their distribution process last week, delivering food right to the vehicles of clients, instead of having them come inside the building.
Food Pantry manager Patti Daoud says as important as this task is, “the pantry is not willing to risk the health of our volunteers to do it.” She says they are taking this next week to assess the pandemic spread, listening to the scientists and doctors’ recommendations and distributing food at the earliest and safest time.
Tentatively the Branch Area Food Pantry will reopen for distribution Tuesday, April 7.
