COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Community Health Agency Board of Health gave Health Officer Rebecca Burns permission Thursday to send a letter to essential business owners asking them screen employees for coronavirus when they arrive for work.
The Washtenaw County Health Department issued an order that went into effect on Thursday night to all businesses which have remained open in their county.
As of Thursday afternoon, Washtenaw County had 92 positive COVID-19 cases and three deaths.
Burns indicated the letter would be more of a recommendation.
Board member Mark Wiley was concerned about not having supplies to screen the employees.
After further discussion, it was decided the letter should list what the best practices are for employers.
The Washtenaw County order calls for workers to have their temperature taken to enter facilities. They also have to work remotely when they can and they can not share space or equipment.
Workers must also remain at least six feet away from other people. Anyone with underlying health issues or symptoms of a cold will be asked to stay home.
