COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on Sunday that they have been notified St. Joseph County has its first positive case of COVID-19.
The patient is an adult male who is self isolating at home.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns says they are not surprised to have a positive case in St. Joseph County based on the work the CHA staff has been doing over the past two weeks.
She once again asked everybody to follow the Stay Home Stay Safe Executive Order to minimize tranmission of this virus and to protect their families.
Besides the first positive case in St. Joseph County, there are now 11 positive cases in Hillsdale County and eight positive cases at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater.
The first local death from COVID-19 was reported on Saturday in Hillsdale County.
The Calhoun County Health Department reported at midday on Sunday that there have been 15 positive results for COVID-19 out of 160 tests conducted. A total of 63 tests have been negative while results are pending on 82 tests.
As of 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, the total number of cases statewide stood at 5,486 with 132 deaths. There were 836 new cases reported on Sunday which was a decrease from the 993 new cases reported on Saturday.
