BRANCH COUNTY, MI. – (WTVB) – A severe thunderstorm that went through the northeast corner of Branch County and Hillsdale County on Tuesday night knocked out power for hundreds of Consumers Energy customers.
Nearly 200 customers in far northeastern Branch County lost their power because of the storm. The utility is reporting Wednesday morning that the power is still out for about 110 customers in an area north of Litchfield and Clarendon Roads. Power is expected to be restored sometime early Wednesday afternoon.
Another outage in the Reading area has knocked out power for 267 customers. Consumers Energy says full restoration is expected to take place by late Wednesday afternoon.
A total of 261 customers in Calhoun County were also without power on Wednesday morning. Most of the outages were in Fredonia Township and to the south of the Binder Park Zoo.
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northeastern Branch County and all of Hillsdale County on Tuesday night.
There were reports of hail in both Jonesville and Hillsdale.
