COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Five new COVID-19 cases were reported locally Saturday by the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency. In addition, for the second straight day no new deaths were reported.
For the second straight day, just one new case was reported in Branch County while four new cases were reported in Hillsdale County. No new cases were reported on Saturday in St. Joseph County.
The total number of Branch County cases outside of the Lakeland Correctional Facility is now at 26 while 75 cases were reported in Hillsdale County and 20 cases were reported in St. Joseph.
The C.H.A. says seven COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Hillsdale County with two deaths in Branch County. The Michigan Department of Corrections reports two inmate deaths at the Lakeland Correction Facility in Coldwater while 55 prisoners and 17 staff members have tested positive for the virus.
The Calhoun County Public Health Department says there have been 71 positive cases out of 477 tests administered.
Saturday’s COVID-19 report from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services showed there have been 23,993 total confirmed cases with 1,392 deaths. There were 111 new deaths reported on Saturday with 1,210 new confirmed cases. The cumulative total of recovered COVID-19 cases as of Friday was 433.
