BATAVIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Hundreds of vehicles showed up at the Capri Drive In on Easter Sunday morning as the Coldwater Area Ministerial Association hosted a special drive-in service.
The outdoor service was held as churches have been shut down by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The drive-in service generated a lot of social media commentary ever since it was first announced.
While it was been praised by some, others felt it should not have been held in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Branch County Prosecutors Office and the Sheriff’s Office told the organizers that even though the service appeared to be allowable under the Governor’s Executive Order, they strongly encouraged social distancing measures be practiced as suggested by the C.D.C. and Governor’s Office.
Bible readings and songs were performed on the roof of the concession stand and the Capri’s sound system was used so people could listen in their vehicles.
