COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A man who was charged in connection with a Christmas Eve confrontation with a man and a woman at their home on Dove’s Landing in Girard Township entered into a plea agreement on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court.
60-year-old Archie Wilson entered no contest pleas to charges of felonious assault with a dangerous weapon and third degree home invasion.
Charges of first degree home invasion and assaulting, resisting or obstructing a police officer will be dropped by prosecutors.
Wilson is scheduled to be sentenced on May 18th.
According to court documents, Wilson had been staying at the residence but was told he needed to leave. He returned and demanded entry in order to retrieve his belongings.
Wilson is accused of trying get into the home by using a hammer which broke some glass. The broken glass struck a woman living at the residence in the face. Wilson is also accused of swinging a hatchet at a man living in the home.
Wilson tried to escape on his bicycle and then decided to make a run for it but he was later apprehended by the Michigan State Police.
