COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With schools shut down for the rest of the academic year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Girls on the Run programs in Branch County have been cancelled as well as the Celebration 5K for this spring.
The Girls on the Run Board said in a statement posted this week on its Facebook page that the decision was difficult.
While they were incredibly disappointed, the board said they recognize the greater responsibility is to ensure a safe and healthy community for all of us.
They intend to offer the program in 2021.
Third thru fifth grade girls in Branch County have been taking part in the 10-week spring activity since 2006 which designed to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles.
The Girls on the Run is funded by organizations and individuals along with a number of grants.
