SOUTH BEND, IN (WTVB) – Longtime Notre Dame women’s basketball coach and Hall of Famer Muffet McGraw announced her retirement after a 33-year run with the Fighting Irish highlighted by a pair of national championships.
Niele Ivey, a former Notre Dame player and assistant who most recently was working for the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies, will take over for McGraw, whose 936 career wins over 36 overall season ranks sixth among Division I coaches.
The Irish made the Final Four nine times under her direction and won national titles in 2001 and 2018.
