COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There will be five contested races for Branch County Republicans to decide in the August 4, 2020 Primary.
Two of the contested races will be for seats on the Board of Commissioners. Second district incumbent Leonard Kolcz is being challenged by Michael Thyng while Jon Houtz will face Gregory Ware for the fourth district seat currently occupied by County Commission Chair Ted Gordon who decided not to seek another term.
Tim Stoll is the only candidate for the first district seat which is being given up by Terri Norris who is running for County Prosecutor. Third District Commissioner Tom Matthew and Fifth District Commissioner Randall Hazelbaker are both running unopposed.
The other contested races are for Prosecutor as Norris will face Zachary Stempien; for Sheriff as incumbent John Pollack is being challenged by Johnny Lopez and for Treasurer as Jessica Drewek Miller, Steve Rutz and Julie Waterbury are running to succeed Ann Vrablic who is retiring at the end of the year.
Running unopposed are Clerk Terry Kubasiak, Drain Commissioner Mike Hard, Register of Deeds Nancy Hutchins and Surveyor Ed Reed.
No Democrats filed for county offices in the August Primary.
