COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Local health officials are reporting there have been more deaths in connection with the COVID-19 virus.
The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on Friday that 18 persons have died in Hillsdale County after testing positive for COVID-19.
At least 11 of the Hillsdale County deaths have taken place at the Hillsdale County Medical Care Facility but facility officials reported on Friday that eight residents were discharged from the isolation unit this week and that they are cautiously optimistic and vigilant that May will bring signs of healing and rejuvenation.
The C.H.A. also reported on Friday there have been 63 COVID-19 cases reported in Branch County since the outbreak began. There have also been 127 cases in Hillsdale County and 33 cases in Saint Joseph County. The number of people who have recovered from the virus has not been made available by the C.H.A..
The Calhoun County Public Health Department reported on Friday there have been 15 deaths in its jurisdiction out of the 231 confirmed COVID-19 cases. Of the 56 persons who required hospitalization, 15 are still being cared for in a Calhoun County health facility. In addition, 127 persons have been released from isolation while another 111 are no longer quarantined.
