Vivian Marie DeVine, 84, of Fredonia Township, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 5, 2020, surrounded by family, under the care of Oaklawn Hospice.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation of Union City.
Vivian, who also went by “Rekid” and “Grandma Bill,” was born August 23, 1935 in Churubusco, IN to Talmage and Catherine (Wood) Crabill. She attended Striped School in the Marshall area. She was first married to Darwin Walker and then in 1983 to William DeVine, but both unions ended in divorce.
Vivian lived in several communities across southwest Michigan, including Marshall, Charlotte, Concord, Homer, Tekonsha, Olivet, and Bellevue, as well as several years with her son Doug and his wife, Linda, in Hanover, IN. She spent her last three years residing with her son, Harry, and his wife at their Fredonia Township home.
She was a homemaker who also cleaned homes and cared for children. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, gardening and raising chickens and various other livestock. She was a member of Fredonia Grange and loved playing cards with friends.
Survivors included Vivian’s children, Doug and Linda Walker of Hanover, IN, Harry and Sheila Walker of Tekonsha and Cathy Walker of Union City; her grandchildren, Amber Walker and Stephen Fultz of Scottsburg, IN, Autumn and Michael Speichert of Naples, FL, Heather and Brad Olson of Mattawan, Jennifer Walker and Gary Wintersteen of Tekonsha, Sheena Duckham of Tekonsha, Nathan and Jasmine Walker of Athens, Doug “Douger” Walker and Kimberly Odette of Marshall and Betsy Walker and boyfriend Dylan Goodrich of Lincoln, NE; and her former husband, Darwin Walker of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Donald Talmage; her former husband, William DeVine; her companion, Richard Harrison; great-granddaughter, Ryver Duckham; her brothers, Donald, Mervin, Melvin and Edward Crabill; and her sisters, Henrietta Brenke, Dolly Hoffman, Julia Hastings and Evelyn Crawford.
