BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB/WNWN) – The Calhoun County Public Health Department reported on Wednesday the 17th death in its jurisdiction from a person who tested positive for COVID-19.
Their latest report shows there have been 249 cases since the outbreak began with 62 persons requiring hospitalization.
As of Wednesday, eight persons were still being cared for in a Calhoun County medical facility while 170 were out of isolation and 127 persons are out of quarantine.
Health Officer Eric Pessell said earlier this week that as more businesses reopen over the coming weeks, it is as important as ever that people continue to practice social distancing and handwashing as much as possible.
Pessell says it is important for the community to remember that we are still in the middle of living through an active pandemic.
Meanwhile, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on Wednesday there were two new COVID-19 cases in Branch County which the county’s total up to 72 cases. There have been 138 cases in Hillsdale County and 44 cases in St. Joseph County.
