LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Seven Branch County small businesses are part of more than 2,700 around Michigan that have been awarded a total of $10 million in grants by local economic development organizations through the Michigan Small Business Relief Program.
The Michigan Economic Development Corporation made the announcement Wednesday. The program was launched to provide relief for small businesses that have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 crisis.
Quincy Book Haven and Quincy Diner in Quincy both received grant money administered through Southwest Michigan First, as did The Bucket in Union City, Matteston St. Bar and Grill in Bronson, and The Goodie Shop, Jeannie’s Diner, and Lilah’s Bridal in Coldwater. The amounts ranged from $1,000 to $10,000.
Southwest Michigan First had $800,000 to distribute over a seven county area.
In addition to the $10 million in grant funds, the Michigan Strategic Fund also approved $10 million in loans through the Michigan Small Business Relief Program that are being referred to the MEDC from their local economic development organization partners.
