COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The softball and baseball diamonds as well as the volleyball courts in the City of Coldwater will be quiet this summer.
Officials announced on Thursday that due to safety concerns surrounding the current COVID-19 pandemic, the City of Coldwater is canceling this summer’s Youth Baseball/Softball Program as well as the Adult Softball Leagues and four on four Volleyball.
The Recreation Department says while it saddens them deeply to see the summer programs go, they are excited to come back stronger in the fall.

The cancellations of the Recreation Department activities are in addition to the scrubbing of the Car Show/Swap Meet, the Coldwater Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies, River Through Time and Strawberryfest due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
It also continues the city’s run of bad luck. The Haunted Forest in Rotary Park was also called off last fall due to concerns over mosquitos carrying Eastern Equine Encephalitis.
