BETHEL TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A soggy Thursday night led to a drainage tube washing out in Bethel Township.
Due to the washout, the Branch County Road Commission says Albright Road between Batavia and Snow Prairie Roads will be closed until further notice.
Just under an inch of rain was measured since midnight Friday morning by the MSU Extension weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater with almost a half inch measured during a one hour period starting at 1:00 a.m..
There were isolated areas where heavier amounts of rain fell. One resident on Central Road said he received just over three inches of rain between 12:30 a.m. and 1:30 a.m. and that the fields were flooded and washed out.
Almost an inch-and-a-half of rain was measured in the 24 hour period starting at 6:00 a.m. Thursday morning.
There were also some strong winds in the southern part of the county where one resident said eight trees were knocked down on his property.
More showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for the next few days with forecasters saying some of the storms could produce heavy rain.
Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties were under a Flood Advisory through early Friday afternoon.
