SHIPSHEWANA, IN (WTVB) – The rainy conditions on Sunday morning apparently led to a crash on the Indiana Toll Road in LaGrange County that took the life of a woman from Angola.
The Indiana State Police say 67-year-old Theresa Devos was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash which took place just after 8:00 a.m.
She along with her 39-year-old daughter Marie trapped in their car which was on its passenger side when a pair of State Troopers arrived.
Marie Devos was taken to the Elkhart General Hospital with reported non-life threatening injuries.
A preliminary investigation indicate Devos’s vehicle hydroplaned on the wet road surface and veered off road and struck a guardrail.
This initial collision sent her vehicle into a spin. It then rolled over and came to rest on the passenger side in the grass median.
The accident is still being investigated by the State Police.
