BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – A Flood Watch for Branch County and other parts of the area continues until Monday evening as National Weather Service forecasters are calling for more rain.
A Flood Warning is in effect for Calhoun and Kalamazoo Counties until 3:15 p.m. Monday.
They say moderate to heavy rain will continue at times into early Monday evening. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches with locally higher amounts are expected.
River flooding will continue along with areal flooding, especially at low lying places. Flood prone locations, such as creeks, low spots, and poor drainage areas may be impacted.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
The MSU Extension Service weather gauge at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater has measured just under an inch of rain since mid morning on Sunday.
The heaviest downpour took place during the 9:00 a.m. hour when a quarter inch of rain was measured.
This is on top of the nearly inch-and-a-half of rain that was measured Thursday night and Friday morning.
Some area residents reported unofficial readings of almost three inches during that same time.
