COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – After all of the rain of the past week, Branch County Drain Commissioner Mike Hard told the Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that the water in the county is going down.
Hard said the north and south chains of lakes both peaked on Wednesday and they are slowly going down while rivers like the Sauk and Coldwater Rivers peaked Tuesday night.
He said the water got into four houses in the Pilot Knob area while it got close to a couple of others on Long Lake.
Hard said lakes will still be above what is called “summer level” going into the holiday weekend.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department reminds all boaters they should have respect for residents that live on the lake and they should follow Michigan law in regards to high water.
Boaters are asked to remember the owner of any vessel is personally responsible for any damage to life or property resulting from a wake or swell created by the negligent operation or propulsion of a vessel.
