COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Due to an Executive Order issued by Governor Whitmer on Thursday, homeowners who are two years behind in paying their property taxes will get another month to pay up because of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Branch County Treasurer Ann Vrablic says the new amendment extends the deadline for payment of 2017 property taxes in order to avoid foreclosure to June 29, 2020.
Branch County Circuit Court Judge Bill O’Grady was expected to sign the amendment as soon as it was delivered.
The previous Executive Order and amendment under the Michigan Emergency Management Act extended the date for foreclosure from March 31 to Friday.
