LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Department of Corrections has announced four more prisoners have died after testing positive for COVID-19 including one who was originally housed at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater.
The D.O.C. reports there have been a total of 67 deaths of Michigan prisoners since the coronavirus pandemic started.
The most recent deaths were reported on Saturday.
The death of the prisoner originally housed at Lakeland was the first one from the facility in 11 days and the 23rd since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
Of the 1,430 tests conducted at Lakeland, 793 came back positive while 637 were negative. There have also been 34 positive tests among Lakeland staff members.
