ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A man wanted on a parole violation out of St. Joseph County, Michigan was apprehended by a police K9 in Angola, Indiana Thursday following a police pursuit.
Angola Police say they tried to stop a 2001 Chevy Blazer driven by 32-year-old Estill Adam Perkins of Stroh, Indiana for a traffic violation.
Police say Perkins did not stop and drove through several yards in an attempt to get away.
Perkins got out while the vehicle was still moving. A police K9 named Zara was sent after the fleeing Perkins and captured him in a North Superior Street backyard.
On line records indicate Perkins was given a six to 20 year prison sentence in 2013 for Armed Robbery out of St. Joseph County and that he absconded from parole in Indiana last January.
Angola Police say he was in possession of two loaded handguns and was charged with five counts including three felonies. All charges are pending submission to the Steuben County Prosecutor’s Office.
