COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported on its website Sunday that there have been 57 new cases of COVID-19 in Branch County.
Health Officer Rebecca Burns says the vast majority of those cases came from a local company who tested all of their workers.
She said the CHA was not quite ready to reveal the name of the company just yet but a joint news release maybe issued at a later time.
Burns says they were told by the company that those who tested positive showed no symptoms of the virus.
Those who tested positive have to go into self-isolation for 14 days.
The new cases brought Branch County’s total number of coronavirus cases up to 221, the most of the three counties the Community Health Agency serves. There have been 171 cases in Hillsdale County with another 169 in St. Joseph County.
The virus has led to the deaths of 30 persons in the CHA jurisdiction who tested positive including 25 in Hillsdale County. There have been two deaths in Branch County and three deaths from the virus in St. Joseph County.
Meanwhile, the CHA had free testing for COVID-19 this weekend in Branch County. Burns says they conducted 60 tests at their office on Marshall Road last Friday. Testing was also held at the Branch County Fairgrounds where 148 tests were conducted Saturday and another 175 tests were conducted on Sunday.
