COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between 14 months and four years in the Michigan Department of Corrections on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered no contest pleas to three charges for sex crimes involving underage girls.
31-year-old Michael Robert Cunkle entered the pleas to two felony counts of accosting children for immoral purposes and a misdemeanor count of indecent exposure.
Charges of second degree criminal sexual conduct and aggravated indecent exposure were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for Cunkle’s pleas. Cunkle was also given 119 days credit for time already served.
Cunkle was charged in February following a Branch County Sheriff’s Department investigation which started in August 2019.
Court documents indicate the three alleged victims in the case were under the age of 12.
