BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The power was finally restored to an area in the central part of Branch County on Tuesday morning following last week’s severe weather which featured winds close to 70 miles an hour.
Nearly 100 Consumers Energy customers in an area between Snow Prairie Road and South Butcher Road were in the dark for almost six days.
The straight line winds were strong enough to knock down or break power poles. Destroyed equipment slowed restoration efforts by Consumers Energy crews as well as crews from throughout Michigan and six other states.
As of 7:30 a.m., there were still 65 customers without power in Branch County while power has been fully restored in Calhoun County after over 30,000 customers lost their power at the height of the storms.
