COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The broken water line that shut down Marshall Road between State and Jonesville Roads last week when the bottom fell out of it also caused some problems at the old Branch County Jail.
Branch County Sheriff John Pollack told the Branch County Board of Commissioners during their work session on Thursday that parts of the old jail flooded twice.
He said the minimum hall was flooded when the water line was first charged back up. When the line was charged up again the following day, the medium hall got flooded. Pollack added the old jail “is not holding up well.”
It took several hours for repairs to be made last Wednesday to the water line and the road in front of the Sheriff’s Department after it buckled.
The water line that broke will not be used for the new jail which is currently under construction.
County Administrator Bud Norman said the construction on the new jail is moving along on schedule. The new jail is scheduled to be ready in September of 2021.
