COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported over the weekend that a fifth person in St. Joseph County who had tested positive for COVID-19 has died.
The C.H.A. says there have been 32 COVID-19 related deaths in its jurisdiction since the pandemic began including 25 in Hillsdale County and two in Branch County.
As of Sunday, St. Joseph County has had the most cases in the jurisdiction with 314 so far followed by Branch County with 244 and Hillsdale County with 188.
Since the spike in Branch County three weeks ago when Maroa Farms conducted mass testing of onsite workers, there have been only 23 new cases reported in the county.
Hillsdale County cases have all but flat-lined. Only 25 cases have been reported in Hillsdale County since the middle of May.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported that as of Saturday there have been 65,533 cases of COVID-19. While there have been 5,972 deaths, a total of 52,841 persons have recovered after contracting the virus.
