BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson High School Junior/Senior Prom that was scheduled to take place on Thursday night at the Stone Barn Wedding and Event Facility in Sherwood has been cancelled.
A post on the district’s Facebook page said a group of administrators, parents, and students made the difficult decision to cancel the prom.
Bronson High School Principal Wes McCrea said “at this point, after talking with health department officials, the safest decision for our students is to not host a dance.”
He added the group is considering alternative ways to celebrate safely while adhering to state guidelines.
The post went on to say the decision was made with the long term goal of keeping students healthy for graduation and returning to school in the fall.
The Bronson High School graduation and the senior walk are still scheduled to take place next week with social distancing guidelines enforced.
